Red Bottom Love

Don’t go thinking kinky thoughts on me now from the post title – well, unless you want to 😉  I’ve been absent from this blog for so long because I’ve been very busy with other endeavors which did not involve me looking too terribly post worthy.  Since my last post I’ve become a grandmother again and have spent much time loving on the little one, running around in either hiking shoes or Chucks and then there was that one day when the older grands and I all wore fleece onesies.  But for Valentine’s Day I got from my sweetie the present of three new pair of shoes that work work work work work for my “this ain’t your average Nana” look.

Here is one pair and let me say that while they aren’t sky high (how some of you can stand let alone walk in So Kates is beyond me; you have mad skills there) they are still sexy as heck and I can walk and dance and be comfortable in these.  I’m about this close to returning one of the other pairs for these in nude.  The Christian Louboutin Iriza patent leather D’Orsay pump found here.  Similar here and here.

Until next time ♥

I can dream about you.

If I can’t hold you tonight… a tip of the hat there to the song from the movie Streets of Fire.  I was under the weather and a bit zonked out from allergies so my fashion sense was relegated to being in jammies and robe with a cup of tea with honey and lemon.  No fashion photos to post so I started to “window shop” online to see what was out there; what was hot and what was so not!  While I do enjoy this kind of pain free shopping (the pain being when I get the credit card bill from real shopping – sometimes) often I find things I can only dream about owning along with some I can, some I will stalk like a starving wolf until they go on sale and a few that I look at with the thought of WHY is this even offered!

For some reason, maybe it’s because I saw so many celebrities wearing the dresses and I fell prey to the ‘I wanna be like insert name here’ syndrome, I’ve lusted for a Herve Leger bandage dress.  They are pricey, they are tight (very very very tight) and I have no idea where I would wear one other than a New Years Eve event because I don’t see me rubbing elbows with any stars anytime soon but again as my post title says…  Please please please let me rub elbows with Idris Elba if this dream ever comes true!

This beauty, originally $1150.00, was on sale for $603.75 at Neiman Marcus. (Image from Neiman Marcus) before it sold out.  Everything goes on sale eventually I suppose and that is a good thing but still, for me anyway, a dream.  While I can see paying this much for shoes – it’s my weakness I confess – that I would wear until one of us came apart at the seams, a dress this specialized (other than a wedding dress) is a purchase that remains filed under the when I win the lottery category.

But I did try one on once and I can tell you this, the dresses are heavy and they wrap themselves around you firmly.  Imagine a full body pair of Spanx; now you’ve got it.  I think underwear might have to be optional but we won’t go there.  Here is me when I tried on a bandage dress.  I could see myself wearing it somewhere (heck if I knew where but I defer to the post title once again) and it did make me feel sexy but the price tag meant try on, take a selfie (please pardon the quality and ignore the pile of clothes flopped on the chair; I am terrible at taking selfies) and give it back to the sales woman thanking her for letting me try on a dream dress.

HerveLegerdress

I can honestly say now that I “wore” a Herve Leger dress 😉  Is there anything you dream about wearing and/or owning? And even better, did your dream come true?

Until next time ♥

Suede lace up block heel Pumps

Here it is the last day of August and I’m not ready for the end of summer or the end of wearing sandals and dare I say it, flip flops too! I know there will still be plenty of warm weather to go but it never ceases to get to me when I’m dressed for one season but the stores have all things out for the next season.  In this case it’s these pumps by Aquazzura.  I wasn’t exactly feeling the block heel trend initially and then I hurt my knee jogging and higher heels had to be put on the back burner for awhile 😦

I tried these on at the store and fell in love with them but besides the price ($725.00) I can’t purchase anything fall/winter when I’m still running the air conditioner because it’s so hot and humid outside.  Maybe around October if I save my pennies I might get them.

OPI Washington, DC Fall/Winter 2016 Collection

By Kerry Washington from you know what show – Scandal.  It was treat myself to a day at the spa and instead of keeping with my chipper bright colors of summer I tried out one of her new colors.  I will say that two of the colors – Pale to the Chief (which I picked) and Never a Dulles Moment – can be worn year round.  But hey! You wear what you want when you want but these are slightly darker colors but great ones.  I can definitely see me wearing some of these colors this fall and winter.

The only colors I didn’t like were the green shades.  They reminded me of green smoothies and wet grass; not feeling them but you may love.  Check out the color line here

Until next time ♥

Tunic Top and Distressed White Jeans

It’s still hot out there and for a lunch date I wanted to wear something cool and comfortable.  I purchased this tunic top from J.Crew a couple years ago and it works just great over these white distressed Banana Republic jeans.  The little clutch bag/wristlet was a great buy from the Fossil Outlet.  This bag is one of three that you can switch out merely by taking the wrist strap off and putting it on another bag.  If you wish, you can just use the bag without the strap or put one of the bags in say a larger tote.  Flexibility rules!

A Steal in Silver – Loafers

We’ve all had shoe lust! Don’t deny it, you know you have, and sometimes we’re fortunate enough to be able to satisfy that lust while other times… sigh.  Budgetary restraints take charge.  But now and then there are those moments when we hit the jackpot and find that ‘similar’ shoe at a bargain price that makes you do your happy dance like nobody is watching.  In my case, I struck silver at DSW with this look alike of a Rebecca Minkoff loafer.

Yeah yeah sure sure they aren’t exactly alike but close enough and unlike the original price of $195-$225 (depending on what store you’re at) I got these Steve Madden loafers at DSW from the clearance section at 50% off their list price plus I had a $10 off coupon for belonging to their rewards program which gave me the final price of – wait for it – $32.22!  BOOM!  It pays to prowl those clearance racks for great finds.  By the way – if you are into Converse sneakers they have some great summer ones in the clearance section now.  You can thank me later.

Until next time ♥

Birthday Girl in Cobalt Tulle

Let me say this first!  You are never ever too old for a tulle skirt and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!  Recently I had another birthday and to celebrate it I went back home to celebrate with friends and family.  The party was at YaYa’s Euro Bistro in Chesterfield, Missouri where we had amazing food and service – I just wished it wasn’t so hot in our private room; a heat wave outside wasn’t helping much.  I had my family and friends come and help me celebrate – I felt so blessed!

But lets get back to my party look shall we?  The skirt was custom made (see details below), the shoes were on sale, the tank top is always at a ridiculously low price, and the clutch was a last minute run to the mall purchase as I forgot to pack the one I had intended on carrying.  My nails actually matched the clutch; this was a happy coincidence.  I could get used to wearing tulle skirts…
