Maxi dresses are or should be a staple in every woman’s closet. I purchased this dress from Banana Republic a few years ago and I love it! It’s a nice knit material that takes being rolled up and packed like a champ. The empire waistline is both classic and flattering as are the sleeves and the dress floats over your figure giving you the ideal silhouette. An interesting thing about this dress is that while it has a high low hem, instead of being the usual high in back low in front it’s longer in the front and back and comes up at the sides.
Floating is the word I’d use to describe how it looks when I walk in it and I’ve gotten compliments on the dress whenever I wear it. I came very close to wearing a floral headband for the photos since this dress has a bit of a 70’s vibe and all – I was even barefoot in the photos – which seems to be trending but I just couldn’t go there.
Afternoon late lunch with the hubs at our favorite seafood place in Columbus, Ohio – The Columbus Fish Market. I was in a be comfortable mood but not as casual as denim and a tee so I put on these Bermuda shorts and a mans white button down with some white patent leather loafers. Besides this thing I have for pockets in everything 😉 I love white button downs and let me tell you, you can get a sharp name brand shirt in the men’s department at Marshall’s or TJMaxx for less than what you would pay for a woman’s button down at almost any store. Case in point, I got this crisp white shirt for $14.99!
By the way, we had mussels and ginger crusted salmon for our lunch with salads and a key lime pie for dessert. Yumminess!
Gingham is everywhere this year and who am I to complain! This skirt can be worn with a tee shirt, tank, or a white button down like I’m doing here. It is so comfy and light which is a good thing because it is summer and in some areas it is really hot! It’s gingham, it’s pleated and best of all – it has pockets!
Sometimes when you are wearing something that is fun you just let go! I was asked to twirl and I happily obliged.
Until next time ♥

I have had this skirt since 2011! Then I had to stop wearing it for awhile when the scale started to inch up – boo! But I’ve been trying to be good and guess what? It fits again! This day I decided to get out of my denim wearing habits – almost – and wore this skirt instead of my usual jeans. I paired it with a white button down (another timeless piece to have and have several of them) and a pair of Gucci espadrilles that I got in 2007. Which leads me back to the title of this post.
I wore these shoes for awhile and then stopped for some reason and they were relegated to the back of the shoe closet. Then one day I was looking at shoes (it’s a weakness, what can I say!) online when I found their descendant and thought – bring them back out! What goes around comes around.

Here are a couple of outtake shots from this look. It was a little windy and then it became a lot windy! Hair and skirt went… 🙂

It’s now unofficially the start of summer and we are all ready for warmer weather and what better thing to wear with warm weather than an off shoulder top and white jeans. Off shoulder tops are a great look for the season but they sometimes have a tendency to drift up. This top stays in place very well unless I raise my arms above shoulder height but let’s be honest, haven’t we all worn an item at one time or another that while wearing it we needed to straighten, adjust, smooth or do something like that to it?
A great thing about this top to me is that it is long; I really like that! That means it can be worn comfortably over shorts or jeans – be they high rise or not – half tucked or not tucked at all. I think the tucked look is less casual and a bit sexier.
When I first saw culottes as a “new” trend my first thoughts were I didn’t like them that much the last time around. So none for me. Time went on, I saw how they were being styled in stores and by those wearing them so I changed my mind from no way to maybe I should give it a try. As you can see, I tried and I liked!
It was finally a sunny and warm day so I picked this look of a colorful pencil skirt, my favorite (I probably wear it too much it’s that comfortable and versatile) chambray shirt and my peep toe nude Prada heels. Pencils skirts are another classic piece you should have in your closet as well as a good pair of pumps that can go with everything! This look also shows that you can wear something from a factory outlet store just fine with something designer.
