Distressed Jeans and Gingham Heels

Sometimes when it’s hot and humid like this day you just want to be comfortable, so for date night with hubs I wore this outfit of a nice crisp long button down shirt, distressed jeans and a pair of heels I love but don’t wear nearly enough.  When I bought these Louboutin heels I had the choice of his usual sky high with a platform ones or these.  Some days I wish I had bought the really tall ones but it’s nice to have a pair of his shoes that I can walk in comfortably.

By the way, what would you wear these gingham heels with?

Until next time ♥

Manolo or Choo?

Once upon a time in a land far far away…  Actually, back in 1998 a show called Sex and The City premiered and my eyes were opened to all of the amazing fashions out there that I did not know about living in the Midwest.  When SATC first came out I was deep into being a mommy and basically wore what worked and was easy to wash.  But watching this show I had dreams of being like the ladies of this show.  Let me rephrase that, I wanted to wear clothes like them not have sex escapades like them.  I did try a Flirtini once and the drink wasn’t half bad.

When the first SATC movie came out I went to see it with a friend of mine and I fell in love with the shoes that Carrie eventually married Big in.  Those gorgeous blue satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi’ shoes which now come in a rainbow of colors.  Nobody to this day that I know of calls these shoes by their name, they are always referred to as “Carrie’s wedding shoes.”  We all dreamed of owning these shoes and being romantically swept off our feet – blah blah blah.

Today I went shoe shopping at Saks and I HAD to finally try them on.  I needed to go up a full size in them because of the cut and pitch of the shoe.  I feel as though I have finally fulfilled that fantasy of wearing “those” SATC shoes.  The pair I tried on were navy colored but what the heck!  Close enough.

SATC Manolos

While I was there I noticed they had their pre-sale racks out.  Uh oh!!  And look at what I found on them.  Normally I cannot wear Jimmy Choo shoes because they are just too narrow for me and I don’t have a wide foot.  But there they were and on a 30% off sale too.  Yeah – had to try these on too and they fit just great!  A first for me and this brand.

Sorry if the image is a bit fuzzy, forgot my camera and cell phones were being a bit temperamental.  But I think the pink shoes go quite well with my rolled up boyfriend jeans and my striped pink shirt.  While I could rock these shoes with the jeans I was wearing,  I think I’d wear a silk shirt instead or wear this shirt with some skinny jeans and the shoes.

Pink Jimmys

In the end I came home with a new pair of shoes but which ones do you think I picked?  Which one would you choose?

Until next time ♥

Shift dress with denim jacket

This is an old short sleeved shift dress with pockets (I love all things with pockets! even my wedding dress had pockets) that I wore with a denim jacket.  It is a very comfortable slip over your head style.  At first I was concerned about how short it was but with encouragement from the spouse I wear it with chunky heels, wedges or sandals confidently and comfortably.

Casual Saturday – Skinny jeans, Converse and his shirt

Sometimes you have things to do, you want to be comfortable and heels and a dress just will not work for the errands on your to-do list.  That day was today!  Cleaning up around the house, a bit of gardening, getting groceries… it has to be done sometimes.  So what to wear when you want to be comfy but not look like you just threw on the first things your hands touched in the morning? Grab his shirt, pull on your jeans and Chucks, put your hair up some kind of way and go!  And in the case of a couple of these photos, be a bit silly along the way.  You’re never too old for having some fun.  In the words of the Joker – Why so serious!

I confess,  I did wear some lip gloss.  I just feel so undressed without my earrings and some lip stick no matter what I’m wearing.  Dressing up will have to wait for Mother’s Day 🙂

Until next time ♥

Spring is confused again!

Last weekend we were in the 80’s and it was glorious!  Today I wake up to upper 40’s and cloudy skies.  So it was back in the closet for my reliable old leather jacket.  To lift my mood from the weather being grey and chilly again, I threw on a pearl necklace and my Tory Burch glitter ballet flats.  These flats always make me feel like I could click my heels together and repeat – there’s no place like a warm beach!

And what’s not to like about a comfy pair of distressed boyfriend jeans with a long shirt on top; casual, comfortable and stylish.  Plus, the jeans were purchased last year on clearance.  Love sales!

Until next time ♥

Chilling in my Chucks

I wanted to shoot a different look outside but nature had other plans – other snowy and cold plans the day I did this outfit!  So it was just relax indoors in my flannel and Chucks instead.  What I love most about this flannel shirt from the Gap, besides it being soft and comfy, is the long shirt tail in the back.  I’ve worn this shirt with leggings and boots as well as with denim.  The pants, from J Crew, are stretchy and comfy and can be dressed up or down.  And as I’ve said before, when it’s a look you like and it works for you, get it in multiple colors if offered.  I bought these in 5 colors (mostly on sale).

Now what can I say about the Chucks?  Great shoe and I’m up to four pairs now.

Until later ♥

What happened to Spring?

Last weekend it was sunny, pleasant and in the 70’s.  This weekend?  We had howling winds with gusts up to 50+ mph and I awoke to a dusting of snow on the ground and temps in the 30’s!  I really was done with anything resembling winter but I guess Mother Nature told me.  So instead of a nice spring outfit to share with you I had to go back to something to keep me warm in this cold and blustery weather.

The jeans and the boots are the only items that are currently still available.  The jeans are skinny but the spandex and polyester in them let them hug not squeeze your body.  Plus they are high rise which is a great fit for many body types but it’s the boots here that are stand outs.  These Sorel boots are stylish, warm and waterproof.  I can almost go without a sock when wearing them but I usually wear just a crew sock with them.  I used to think Uggs were the warmest winter boots out here but these have them licked.  They are nice and warm, have much more support for your foot and you can get them wet without worry or ugly water lines.

Now dear Spring, please come back!
