I remember getting new clothes for Easter when I was a child and being so excited to wear them. Today while I still like the idea of getting something new to wear, sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and say – “Have you seen what’s in your closet? Wear some of that!!!” So everything I wore for Easter was something I’ve had at least a couple of years and in the case of the clutch, over 10 years ago.
The shoes (Prada patent leather kitten heels) came from Saks on a serious after Christmas sale which was so good I got two pairs for less than the price of one. The dress is a Kate Spade shift dress which is on trend now with the floral print and ruffled sleeves; it came from a Kate Spade outlet store. The purse was an Ebay purchase and the fascinator came from Harrods in London when we traveled there a few years ago.
Just goes to show that sometimes what’s old is new again and some styles are timeless. Shop your closet! Hope your day was filled with joy.
Don’t go thinking kinky thoughts on me now from the post title – well, unless you want to 😉 I’ve been absent from this blog for so long because I’ve been very busy with other endeavors which did not involve me looking too terribly post worthy. Since my last post I’ve become a grandmother again and have spent much time loving on the little one, running around in either hiking shoes or Chucks and then there was that one day when the older grands and I all wore fleece onesies. But for Valentine’s Day I got from my sweetie the present of three new pair of shoes that work work work work work for my “this ain’t your average Nana” look.
Here is one pair and let me say that while they aren’t sky high (how some of you can stand let alone walk in So Kates is beyond me; you have mad skills there) they are still sexy as heck and I can walk and dance and be comfortable in these. I’m about this close to returning one of the other pairs for these in nude. The Christian Louboutin Iriza patent leather D’Orsay pump found here. Similar here and here.
Let’s talk about socks baby 😉 The lowly sock that often loses its mate in the washing machine or dryer. That item of clothing that pretty much spends most of it’s time hidden from view. But wait! The times have changed! Socks are now quite the fashion accessory for women and men. They are being shown more and the colors and patterns? Whoa!
Let’s start with these hot socks for men that you can get at Neiman Marcus – appropriately named Happy Socks x Billionaire Boys Club.
And these from Nordstrom made by Bugatchi. I like the comic book ones myself.
Men (and ladies) how do you feel about these kind of out there socks for the male of the species? Too much? Way cool? Only for casual times? Do you feel socks should just be in staid colors like black, brown, blue and maybe if you’re feeling a bit crazy about the edges stripes? Next time we will take a peek at women’s socks.
Here it is the last day of August and I’m not ready for the end of summer or the end of wearing sandals and dare I say it, flip flops too! I know there will still be plenty of warm weather to go but it never ceases to get to me when I’m dressed for one season but the stores have all things out for the next season. In this case it’s these pumps by Aquazzura. I wasn’t exactly feeling the block heel trend initially and then I hurt my knee jogging and higher heels had to be put on the back burner for awhile 😦
I tried these on at the store and fell in love with them but besides the price ($725.00) I can’t purchase anything fall/winter when I’m still running the air conditioner because it’s so hot and humid outside. Maybe around October if I save my pennies I might get them.
By Kerry Washington from you know what show – Scandal. It was treat myself to a day at the spa and instead of keeping with my chipper bright colors of summer I tried out one of her new colors. I will say that two of the colors – Pale to the Chief (which I picked) and Never a Dulles Moment – can be worn year round. But hey! You wear what you want when you want but these are slightly darker colors but great ones. I can definitely see me wearing some of these colors this fall and winter.
The only colors I didn’t like were the green shades. They reminded me of green smoothies and wet grass; not feeling them but you may love. Check out the color line here
It’s still hot out there and for a lunch date I wanted to wear something cool and comfortable. I purchased this tunic top from J.Crew a couple years ago and it works just great over these white distressed Banana Republic jeans. The little clutch bag/wristlet was a great buy from the Fossil Outlet. This bag is one of three that you can switch out merely by taking the wrist strap off and putting it on another bag. If you wish, you can just use the bag without the strap or put one of the bags in say a larger tote. Flexibility rules!
Until next time ♥
Tunic top J.Crew very similar and on sale now here
Maxi dresses are or should be a staple in every woman’s closet. I purchased this dress from Banana Republic a few years ago and I love it! It’s a nice knit material that takes being rolled up and packed like a champ. The empire waistline is both classic and flattering as are the sleeves and the dress floats over your figure giving you the ideal silhouette. An interesting thing about this dress is that while it has a high low hem, instead of being the usual high in back low in front it’s longer in the front and back and comes up at the sides.
Floating is the word I’d use to describe how it looks when I walk in it and I’ve gotten compliments on the dress whenever I wear it. I came very close to wearing a floral headband for the photos since this dress has a bit of a 70’s vibe and all – I was even barefoot in the photos – which seems to be trending but I just couldn’t go there.
