Let me say this first! You are never ever too old for a tulle skirt and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Recently I had another birthday and to celebrate it I went back home to celebrate with friends and family. The party was at YaYa’s Euro Bistro in Chesterfield, Missouri where we had amazing food and service – I just wished it wasn’t so hot in our private room; a heat wave outside wasn’t helping much. I had my family and friends come and help me celebrate – I felt so blessed!
But lets get back to my party look shall we? The skirt was custom made (see details below), the shoes were on sale, the tank top is always at a ridiculously low price, and the clutch was a last minute run to the mall purchase as I forgot to pack the one I had intended on carrying. My nails actually matched the clutch; this was a happy coincidence. I could get used to wearing tulle skirts…
And if you believe that I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. I was a model this past weekend for a digital art and fashion magazine which was shooting the designers of the future; designers from schools both local here in Columbus, Ohio and from other parts of the country. This whimsical skirt I’m wearing was designed by local designer Camille Witt. The eye wiggles but unfortunately I still cannot figure out how to upload the little video clip of me wiggling in it to make it move. You’ll just have to use your imagination
Afternoon late lunch with the hubs at our favorite seafood place in Columbus, Ohio – The Columbus Fish Market. I was in a be comfortable mood but not as casual as denim and a tee so I put on these Bermuda shorts and a mans white button down with some white patent leather loafers. Besides this thing I have for pockets in everything 😉 I love white button downs and let me tell you, you can get a sharp name brand shirt in the men’s department at Marshall’s or TJMaxx for less than what you would pay for a woman’s button down at almost any store. Case in point, I got this crisp white shirt for $14.99!
By the way, we had mussels and ginger crusted salmon for our lunch with salads and a key lime pie for dessert. Yumminess!
Gingham is everywhere this year and who am I to complain! This skirt can be worn with a tee shirt, tank, or a white button down like I’m doing here. It is so comfy and light which is a good thing because it is summer and in some areas it is really hot! It’s gingham, it’s pleated and best of all – it has pockets!
Sometimes when you are wearing something that is fun you just let go! I was asked to twirl and I happily obliged.
Until next time ♥
White shirt – Old mine from Ann Taylor similar here
If you celebrate it, what are your plans? Ours are to sit in the back yard and watch the fireworks display from the local park and hopefully I get some good photos. But looking out the window now it is very very cloudy so who knows! Either way there will be grilling of something. Haven’t decided on the menu yet will just wing it and maybe even wings for it – get it 😉 All I am sure of is dessert will be raspberries, blueberries and homemade whipped cream. But what to wear? Here are a few window shopping ideas to either get or give you inspiration for 4th of July wear.
This silk tank paired with some denim shorts in blue or white and add these lace up sandals to complete your look. Both on sale at Madewell.
Or this shorts look as it is shown or you could substitute a white or blue tee or go with this blue and white gingham shirt. Red, white and blue done with just two pieces and both on sale at JCrew!
Going to the pool? Then take this treat with you. How “cool” is this floatie! Afterwards, go to a party looking chic in this maxi dress. Both from Nordstrom.
And you can top off any holiday look you choose by rocking these decadent sunnies at a price of $1815.00 but it does fit the red, white and blue theme. Decadence is even part of their name. You can get these from Neiman Marcus. Nothing wrong with dreaming.
Have a happy and safe 4th everyone and see you next time ♥
